Since Taekwondo was adopted as a competitive sport in 2000 Sydney Olympic, Taekwondo is an official Olympic event. The world Taekwondo championship held last 15, July, 2013 in Mexico. Taekwondo is Korea's traditional sport, but it has become popular around the world. These days, a number of people learn Taekwondo in many countries and many people are interested in watching Taekwondo competition. Otherwise, Taekwondo tires to develop in order to one of the best sports event in the world. Recently Taekwondo imposed electronic protective gears because of impartial judgment in the competition and makes more exciting than before Taekwondo competition. This system is an excellent idea and serves to further remove subjective decision making from the scoring of Taekwondo. Purpose of Electronic protect gear is liaise between tradition and globalization of Taekwondo. This post will talk about advantages and disadvantages of using electronic protective gear in Taekwondo competition and debate pros and cons of using electronic protect gears with my view point and comparison with other sport games. In addition, this technology has a possibility of improvement and this technology is necessary or not in the future (De-hao,2012). First, there are brief summary of taekwondo electronic scoring system in the competition. Basic of rule is little different than previous rules. Electronic protect gear assist referee’s judgments for example show within striking distance attacking and blind spot attacking on the game in other words body shots are counted automatically (Han, 2012). In addition, it measure the strength depends on weights division. To score a point your punch or kick has to be accurate and powerful. Taekwondo depends on only referee’s judgment before adopt this technology, it reaches uppermost limit because of frequent wrong decision and judgments dispute arose repeatedly on the game (Macky, 2012). In addition, there are talk about pros and cons of using electronic protective gears with my view points. This technology increase Taekwondo competitiveness in the Olympic and also make well-known sports in the world. The main point of adopt this technology is that assists referee’s justiciable judgments. It provides information which referees blind spots. Before using electronic scoring system, most of Taekwondo competition was embroiled in controversy because of referee’s wrong decision. This technology developed rapidly in every year. It first used world Taekwondo championship in Copenhagen in 2009 and also it re-launched successfully in London Olympics 2012 (Han, 2012) It begins to use just four years so that after decade, electronic protective gear will become catholicization technology in Taekwondo competition. On the other hands, it also has some of weakness to using in Taekwondo competition. These days, others said electronic protective gear is going to kill Taekwondo (Ahn, 2009). First thing is worry about arise malfunction during the game. Sometimes, this technology makes wrong scores also do not count scores during the game. Those errors impede losing match stream also audiences feel less speedy and less exciting when they watch the games. For example there are compare with Fencing and Taekwondo, both sports is not same sports but use electronic protective gears. In the case of Fencing, Fencing game does not appear to happen to referee’s wrong decision or not appear any judgment dispute during the game(Evangelos, V., Charilaos, T., & Marietta, R, 2010). In addition, electronic protective gear can count whole body. In contrast case of Taekwondo, this electronic protect gear cannot count full body so referee judgments to specific attack during the game. A number of people and athletes concerned that some of origin rules were changed by using electronic protective gear in the game. It makes hard to get scores because of excessive limit and complex rules. There are compare with similar sports and Taekwondo. Judo, Boxing and wrestling did not use electronic protect gears in the game (Emerson, F., Stanislaw, S., Jr, Cassio, M. M., & Go, T, 2008). Two sports often arises referee’s wrong decision and judgment dispute; however, they reinforce origin rules and focus on improve referee’s ability. Taekwondo should focus on not only develop technology in the games but also promote referee’s ability. In my view point, Taekwondo was adopted in Sydney Olympics 2000, it accomplishes many things such as became a popular sports and regular event at the Olympics in a brief span of ten years. There was a lot of errors and controversy however, I think that Taekwondo now undergo trial and error in order to become international sports in the world. All the popular sports suffered trials and errors so that became popular sports. As for the electronic protect gears, this devices is part of development of Taekwondo. In addition, electronic protect gears first used in world championship in 2009, it means that it is just a process of trial and error, a few years later, this technology will assist developing of Taekwondo (Jae, K. Y., Kevin, C., Yonghwan, C., & Youngjin, H, 2011). Someone said this device will destroy traditional of Taekwondo, in my opinion, if experts invent perfect electronic protect gear, this device will inherit the traditional heritage. At this time, Taekwondo need to more concerned and encourage their effort gradually. The most burning problem is referee’s impartial judgment and grows up international referee particularly on the basic of strict screening when delegate referee. Taekwondo become stronger than before not only referee and technology but also in many areas. Plus it will be harmony with traditional values and modern technologies in the future.
